A Word About These Builds

Missing a trait or item on a build? Don't worry!

These builds serve as templates and examples, with the intention that you can learn from them, experiment on your own and come up with your own builds. Many of the core build ideas can be directly copied to any other ship in the game.

It's okay if you don't have exactly everything that a certain build has - you may have some tweaks of your own in mind, or if you are on a budget and still working on your build, there are plenty of alternatives with similar effectiveness. We're all working on our builds and piloting, and even players who have every item in the game debate which is best in a given situation - unlike PvE which is easier to observe and test in, PvP is against ever changing and adapting enemies. This means that something that works best against one player might be different against another depending on their build.

Sample DEW Builds

Dogfighters

Your bread and butter ships - high speed and high damage

Legendary JHAS

zen

Unique seating with two universal LTC seats make this one very adaptable.

Andorian Chimesh

zen

Similar to the Lethean and Dewan pilot ships, this is a great budget option with traits commonly used in PvE content.

Heavy Fighters

Higher hull capacity fighters that trade off maneuverability for extra durability

Freedom Frigate

promo

Pilot + MW spec, plus a mostly universal seating arrangement makes this a very unique fighter

JH Escort Carrier

lobi

Pilot and Intel combined with a hangar bay, but at the cost of a 4/3 weapon layout

Legendary Defiant

zen

A heavier-duty version of the classic Pilot Escort build, but lacking the experimental weapon slot

Destroyers

High maneuverability ships but with a weapon layout more conducive to broadside piloting styles

Undine Cheirax

lockbox

The only ship with 4/4 weapons and pilot maneuvers, with intel as an added bonus makes this a really cool ship.

4/4 Cruisers

The classic Star Trek capital ship, usually focused on a broadside piloting style and with very high hull strength

Leg D'Deridex

zen

High hull capacity coupled with singularity abilities at the cost of a very slow turn rate.

Leg Ross/Galaxy

zen

Full command spec provides some nice team support abilities while contributing solid beam damage.

Battlecruisers

Usually more maneuverable and with more forward firepower than standard cruisers

Legendary Vor'Cha

zen

Full Command spec plus Miracle Worker seating offers some distinctive benefits.

Son'a Battlecruiser

lobi

Intel spec provides useful defense and a platform that excels as either a Surgical or Overload beam build.
