Not at all. The queues do not always reflect the situation accurately - players could be currently in the match and it will show the queues as being empty, and the timer does not always update properly.
There is PvP action in the Ker'rat system every single day, various groups host PvP events, and public queues go off for several hours on Friday evenings.
If you are interested, join the in-game channel "OrganizedPvP" and say something in there if you want to start a match and there are always a few takers.
This question usually comes from players with little experience using proper PvP builds, and your average PvE build will die rather quickly in a match.
What they are missing is that power creep applies to healing, resistances, and other durability measures just as much as it applies to damage. PvP matches between good players can last HOURS, and require a concerted team effort to finish.
Once players get over the initial hump of setting up a build with some survivability, it becomes an skillful game of debuffing and focusing your opponents as a team, while clearing their attempts to debuff and focus you in return.
Sadly this game has no matchmaker or team-balancing system, so this happens to all of us - including some of the best and most experienced PvPers in the game.
The secret to this is just to play more matches. You'll get a few crappy matches, as we all do, but when you get one that is 15-14, it will be worth it.
Otherwise, consider what you are doing wrong - the other team won easily and they're playing the same game you are, so what can you do to your build to perform better? If everyone on your team did this, it won't be a 15-0 result next time.
No, not any more than any other part of the game. You won't be able to create a brand new account and jump straight into PvP without earning some better ships, gear, and traits - the same applies to PvE TFO content.
Many players grind dilithium to purchase premium items, but you can pay to accelerate how quickly you can acquire things. Think of it this way - you either pay with money, or with your time - which you prefer is up to you.
Since PvP is not singularly focused on damage like PvE is, there is a wide variety of effective budget builds too - sometimes a simple build that disables enemies with free bridge officer abilities can be more effective than an expensive one that deals outright damage.
Absolutely not - because Competitive TFO's are not PvP.
These TFO's alienated both audiences - the Arena crowd wanted Competitive Marks to be awarded in those game modes (as stated in the announcement), which never happened. The PvE crowd didn't like them because they require puzzles - not pure DPS - and in the case of Core Assault, an actual PvP fight section which they aren't prepared for in their builds.
These TFO's are also not in the "Random" TFO list, so that's why they are run so rarely. They also cannot be run in the private tab, so premade groups can't run them either.
Very candid answer - it can be at times, just like any part of this game (just take a look at ESD zone chat, or use Parasitic Ice in a Borg TFO). In any competitive game mode, there is bound to be some trash talk, but for the most part we are more interested in helping new players out. After all, PvP inherently requires other players to enjoy.
Most trash talk is exchanged between already experienced players, sometimes as friendly ribbing and sometimes less so - you really would need to know the players involved better to make an accurate judgement.
My advice - turn off zone chat or just don't get involved. If you don't behave in a toxic manner, then PvP isn't toxic, simple as that.
And that's okay with us, it is not for everyone. You aren't being forced to take part in this mode, so all we ask is that you don't hop on your social media of choice, claim to be an expert in PvP, and try to discourage others from playing the game.
